OUTBREAK RESPONSE & MANAGEMENT

Our public health focus provides experience and proven capabilities in epidemiology, global disease surveillance, disaster preparedness, and occupational and environmental health.

Alexa-RE has experience in strategies for disease surveillance and infection control during outbreak events that include Anthrax (US), West Nile Virus (DC), and Acinetobacter (Ship Board). Prevention and management of outbreak-type disease events requires an understanding of disease surveillance, diagnostics, detection, isolation capabilities and medical care practices.

Alexa-RE also recognizes that an outbreak or a disease event must be considered through the perspective of the One Health principle where human health is interconnected with plant, animal and environment ecologies. This principle helps identify key interfaces between human health and the disease agent which presents opportunities to prevent and mitigate a public health event.

Furthermore recognizing that mass population/gathering events are opportunities for specify types of disease transmission, outbreaks, and bioterrorism events is essential. Alexa-RE is knowledgable of mass gathering public health surveillance and prevention strategies and considers population density as a likely scenario for public health events.

Alexa-RE also recognizes that outbreak response logistics pose multiple challenges including delivery of supplies and laboratory diagnostics, communications and developing situational awareness reports. Mobile computing, communications, and situational awareness platforms are becoming essential to do business in an outbreak and response operations. Response agencies are moving rapidly to ensure that these capabilities exist.
