DISASTERS AND PUBLIC HEALTH

Our public health focus provides experience and proven capabilities in epidemiology, global disease surveillance, disaster preparedness, and occupational and environmental health.

Disasters Public health includes dynamic methods and tools to prevent and minimize morbidity/mortality. Disaster Epidemiology uses epidemiology to assess the short- and long-term adverse health effects of disasters and to anticipate health consequences of future disaster events. Epidemiology methods helps characterize acute and communicable disease, and environmental health, occupational health, chronic disease, injury, mental health, and behavioral health elements.

Additionally disaster epidemiology uses surveillance to provides situational awareness by provides information that helps establish needs and to plan for and response to an event. Additionally, it further informs leaders on appropriate decisions and resource allocation.

The main objectives of disaster epidemiology are to provide timely, relevant and accurate health information and to improve public health strategies for future response and preparedness operations.

Alexa-RE has the experience in surveillance and situational awareness around disasters and can provides expertise in preparing for and responding to disaster type events. This includes natural and man-made disasters, mass casualty events, operation centers, continuity of operations, emergency response and technologies that support such events.
